When I moved from Detroit to Portland in Fall 2006 it seemed like a worst case scenario basketball-wise. Detroit was pure hoops heaven. The Pistons had the best record in the league (64-18) and should have won the title under normal circumstances. But the piston-powered engine stuttered in the Eastern Conference finals against Miami. The games in the Palace of Auburn Hills were always a highlight. The place was breath-taking, deafening and my favorite arena.
